Creating baby hand and footprints is a cherished way to capture precious moments. Here are some helpful tips to ensure the process is smooth and the results are delightful:

Calm Moments: Attempt prints when your baby is calm or sleeping to reduce movement.
Non-Toxic Paints: Use child-safe, non-toxic paints or underglazes to ensure safety.
Handprints: Babies often clench their fists. Gently massage the back of their hand to encourage them to open it.
Footprints: Feet are generally easier to print. Apply paint evenly and press gently but firmly to capture the print.

For handprints, it's often easier when babies are over one year old, as younger infants tend to clench their fists, making handprints more challenging.
Are the paints safe for my baby?: Yes, all our paints are water-based, non-toxic, and safe for babies and children. They also wash out from clothes easily, which is good news for any accidental spills!
Do I need to make an appointment for baby prints?: While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend booking an appointment to ensure availability and to provide you with the best experience, especially during peak times.
Can I get assistance with capturing the prints?: Absolutely! Our friendly staff is experienced in helping capture perfect baby handprints and footprints. We recommend visiting on weekdays when it's generally quieter, allowing us to provide more personalized assistance.
How long does it take to complete the process?: The painting session typically lasts about an hour. After capturing the prints, we glaze and fire the pottery, which usually takes up to two weeks. We will notify you when your keepsake is ready for collection.

Can I create multiple items in one session?: Yes, you can create multiple keepsakes during a single session. Each additional item will incur its respective cost, along with the standard studio fee per painter.
Do I need to bring anything?: We provide all necessary materials for the session. However, bringing along design ideas or inspirations can be helpful. Feel free to have images on your phone or printed out to guide your creative process.
Can other family members participate?: Yes, family members are welcome to join in the fun and create their own keepsakes. It's a wonderful activity for siblings, parents, and even grandparents to share.

Pottery Painting - How It Works

Creating your own masterpiece at Rainbow Pottery is easy, fun, and perfect for all ages. Whether you’re visiting us for a family day out, a special occasion, or just a bit of creative relaxation, our simple four-step process ensures you’ll leave with a unique and beautifully finished piece to treasure. Here’s how it works:

Step 1:

Choose Your Piece

To book a table, there is a £5 studio fee per painter, payable when booking. This covers your table reservation, use of paints, glazing, and kiln firing.

On the day of your visit, you’ll choose and pay separately for your bisque pottery item. Prices vary depending on the piece selected, with options including mugs, plates, animals, vases, plaques, money boxes, and more.
Step 2:

Design and Paint

Unleash your creativity using our child-safe, non-toxic paints. We provide a variety of brushes, sponges, and other tools to help you bring your vision to life.

Don’t worry if you’re a beginner—our friendly team is always here to assist and inspire. Feel free to bring your own design ideas, or simply let your imagination run wild!
Step 3:

Glazing and Firing

Once you’ve finished your masterpiece, leave it with us for glazing and firing in our on-site kiln.

This process enhances the durability, gloss, and vibrancy of your creation, making it a truly unique, long-lasting keepsake. The firing typically takes around 2 weeks, so your piece will be ready in no time!
Step 4:

Collect Your Creation

Your finished pottery piece will be ready for collection within two weeks. When it’s ready, pop back into the studio to pick up your unique work of art.
